Cisco ISP in a Box, option 2 (Cisco 3825)

One of our viewers assembled an “ISP in a box” setup with some more features than our original post.

This setup has 4x FXS ports to provide analog dialtone, channelized T1 cards, and Cisco Digital Modem modules (like those in the AS5x00 series). Dialing 5551212 from an analog line will connect you to the modem bank where you should be able to achieve a 56k connection. You can also dial between the ports on the 555000N numbers.

This complete hardware setup is currently listed on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/305790619218

    says:

This looks a really slick setup but any ideas where to find the NM30-DM card and MICA-6 bits as I can’t even see these on ebay. All the other parts seem available and reasonable.

  • Rob Krenicki

    says:

I am actually the person who made this setup, and I am going to be listing the entire system on eBay here in the near future as after a series of late-nite purchases that resulted in me having two complete sets of this gear. The NM-xxDM and the NM-xCE1T1 were certainly the hardest parts to find, and I had a number of NM-xxDM orders cancelled on me due to lack of availability.

I will reply back to this once I have the listing up, as I still need to take a couple of pictures.

    • Rob Krenicki

      says:

I just finished the listing. Looks like the NM-24DM module alone ended up costing me about $350 because I needed to use an intermediary to order it from a German seller. So, I had to pay customs for their country and two different shipping rates. The rest of the cards were downright inexpensive in comparison. Here is the listing:
