The Serial Port is a team passionate about exploring the technology that powers the Internet: past, present, and future.

From the earliest days of computer networking and dial-up to today’s Internet infrastructure, we blend storytelling with hands-on technical deep dives to educate, entertain, and bring stories to life of the systems and people that shape our digital world.

Our Team

The Serial Port is managed by Mark Price and Ben Grubbs, who first first connected through the BBS scene in the mid 1990s. They experienced the Internet’s rapid explosion first hand, living through the progression of dial-up connections, early networking protocols and grassroots online communities which laid the groundwork for much of today’s connected experience.

The Serial Port channels that perspective into explaining the technology that built our connected world – both for nostalgia and context to understand where we came from and where we’re headed.
